Health and Safety

Working Practices within the RGB Group

RGB’s Senior Management’s approach to health and safety is based on the idea of personal commitment and individual empowerment.

We believe everyone has a right to return home safely every day and a duty to take care of themselves and those around them.

As senior managers we understand that to have the highest level of performance we must engage with, influence and care for all those who come into contact with us, from family through to members of the public.

The construction industry is getting safer, but many people still believe in the old adage that injuries or even fatalities are an unavoidable part of what we do.

RGB does not accept this view. That is why it is our aim to eliminate all accidents from our operations.

We know it’s a tough target and achieving it won’t be easy, but to us there is no worthwhile goal above keeping all our people safe and well.

To help us get there the Senior Management team are committed to launching a number of new initiatives, while improving existing ones, along with cultural change through communication and training. We believe communication and training is critical to creating the conditions for Zero Accidents.

It’s important that everyone understands our approach to health and safety and feels empowered to play their part.

One of our key aims is to encourage a culture of care and mutual respect by strengthening relationships between senior management, workforce and sub-contractors.

We all have a part to play in keeping our workplaces safe. One of the most effective ways RGB does this is by being aware of the risks around us and taking action to address these. That’s why we actively encourage all our people to regularly assess their working environments and report any identified risks as they arise.

The Senior Management Team will monitor the Health and Safety Policy for effectiveness and compliance on an ongoing basis.

RGB are a registered company under the Considerate Constructor Scheme. The CCS is recognised throughout the industry as a benchmark scheme to improve the image of construction. By being part of the CCS it demonstrates to our project stakeholders and the wider community that we are serious about protecting the environment and engaging with our client, our workforce and our neighbours.

RGB will ensure all our development sites are signed up to the Considerate Constructers Scheme. External auditing will ensure quality is monitored and the site will maintain the highest possible standards of construction throughout the development process.

Additionally the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) will be adhered to, ensuring 100% of employees and sub-contractors coming on our sites are competent to fulfil their role.

In March 2016 RGB Group was awarded Safecontractor accreditation, which will enhance our company’s ability to attract new contracts, and our commitment to safety will be viewed positively by prospective clients.
